Current Situation
- Sony’s Bravia‑branded TVs are still being produced and sold right now, and current model lineups for 2025/2026 are still active.
Upcoming Change in Production
- Sony has signed a memorandum of understanding with TCL Electronics (a major Chinese TV maker) to create a new joint venture that will take over most of Sony’s TV and home entertainment business — including design, manufacturing, sales, and supply chain operations.
- Under this plan:
- TCL will hold a 51% majority stake in the new company.
- Sony will retain 49% and still contribute its picture‑processing technology and brand.
- The Sony and Bravia names will continue to appear on products, but the actual production and major operations will be handled by the new joint venture.
- This joint venture is expected to be finalized by March 2026 and begin operating in April 2027 (pending regulatory approvals).
